Services & Rates Overview
My rates are generally as follows but may vary according to the complexity of the design involved & other factors.
For a quote, please email me with a brief description of your website, a list of needed webpages, and any extra features (message board, mailing list, shopping cart, etc.) you'd like.
If you have a budget, feel free to let me know this as well, as I can tailor a site to fit within nearly any budgetary constraints. (A smaller or simpler website may be just the thing.)
By the way, I never use templates. Your website is custom-designed to be a reflection of you & your work, and there will never be another like it.

One-page websites
A single-page website functions much like a business card or brochure, and will give you a basic web presence. Cost is from $175 (very basic) to about $300 (for a graphics-intensive site).
These are simple, low-graphics sites which communicate your message with a minimum of fuss, but still effectively and with style. Here are 3 examples:

Alchemy Word Studio One-page graphics-intensive site for a freelance writer; the ancient alchemical graphics & gold reflect her theme, "Turning words into gold." This page is archived as the owner has closed shop. This site would run about $300.

Toyin Adeyemi One-page brochure website for a freelance writer, who requested a casual, feminine design. This site would run about $275.

And here's another one-page website example. This is very basic, costing only about $175.
Complete websites
Each website is quoted individually, as cost depends on the size & complexity of your website.
The usual cost of a 5 to 7-page website is about $495-550. Just email me with a description of what you'd like to put on your website, and I can give you an exact quote.
In addition to the design & website itself, your design package includes:
- free minor updates (see below for details)
- a basic webhosting account with multiple email accounts & other features
- detailed statistics: how many visitors you had, how they found your site, & what they looked at.
- website promotion (search engine & directory submission)
- friendly, personalized support (and advice on any web-related topic)
Every page on your website will be designed with the best, up-to-date ethical SEO (search engine optimization) practices, so that your site can be easily found, and well-ranked in a Google search. (Up to 90% of your visitors will find you via Google or another search engine.) This is crucial to your website's success, and it's a service many webdesigners don't offer or don't fully implement.
By devoting myself almost exclusively to creating websites for poets, writers, artists & musicians, I've developed an expertise, which most other webdesigners don't have. That enables me to be more effective in creating your website, and in getting it found by the right people.
Updates
Minor updates are free! This would include updates such as (but not limited to) adding/deleting an event or news blurb, a photo, or some text, which take 15 minutes per month or less. Please feel free to take advantage of this.
Larger updates are billed at an hourly rate of $30, in quarter-hour increments. (So, if it only takes me 30 minutes, or 45 minutes, to update your site, that's all you pay for, rather than the full hour.)
You'd probably be surprised how much can get done in an hour or less.
And, of course, if you know a little basic HTML, you can easily update the site yourself, whenever you like. You will always have full access to your site.
Additional webpages
I can add additional webpages to your site at any time.
Cost varies depending on the work to be done.
Webhosting
One year free with most design packages; available at low cost (from $35/year) thereafter.
Website redesign
Need a fresh new design? Redesign rates generally fall in line with those for a new website; email for a quote.
Website promotion
Professional hand-submission to over 100 general & specialized directories, and to the major search engines, is free with every new website. Learn more.
Cost without a new website is just $50-150, depending on the package purchased and the nature of your website. Learn more.
Search engine optimization
Each site I design is optimized for the search engines, making it likely that you'll be found by Google for search terms relevant to you.
If you have a current website in need of optimization, please get in touch. Cost varies depending on the website's size & the nature of the work needed, and begins at $100.
Domain name registration
I can register your domain name for $15; discounts are available for registering for multiple years at once.
Web graphics, bells & whistles, merch, & more
Extras such as custom-designed discussion forums, blogs, mp3 players, shopping carts, mailing lists, wallpaper, AIM icons, & website search, are available as well. Promotional goodies, such as stickers, buttons, guitar picks, or flyers, are also available, as are web graphics such as banners, buttons, & ads.
I also offer copy writing & research, & photo restoration. Cost varies; again, please email for a quote.
Scanned images
If you don't yet have them in digital format, you can send your photographs or other documents for scanning. Cost is just $5 per image, plus $6 for return postage.
Digital photo restoration or manipulation
It's possible to digitally repair a damaged family photograph, to remove a person, item, or background from a photo, to remove blemishes, red-eye, dust, or scratches, correct color or other flaws. Cost varies. Please email me for a quote or examples.
Copy writing & editing
I can write the text for your webpages, or edit existing text for grammar, punctuation, and style. Cost varies; please contact me for a quote.
Deposits & payments
50% of the website's anticipated final cost is due at the outset; the balance is due as soon as the work is completed. For website updates and other hourly work, payment is expected at time of completion unless prior arrangements have been made. (I cannot extend credit unless we've arranged it in advance.) Minimum deposit is $150.
I accept Visa, Mastercard, and e-Checks through PayPal. Checks and money orders are fine, too.
